They might be for more advanced readers but very entertaining stuff.

Thursday Next is a literary detective and quite the quirky lady. The books run along the lines of the alternative history genre, with a mix of scifi, fantasy and some good time travel.

They include lots of references to the great literary classics. So, I think there are some good teaching and reading influences here.

But most of all they are just fun to read. The first book is the Eyre affair.
Fun for all!Nicole Maddockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02625803683295109189noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7550488736096334061.post-86046635833506419282008-05-01T20:59:00.000-07:002008-05-01T20:59:00.000-07:00I started an A. I liked what I read though. Inkheart is on the list, and #2 just started The Lightening Thief (he's raving about it already -- diabolical scheme of the authors and publishers: instead of a great book kids read again and again, create an entire series so they'll make the folks buy again and again!) I always feel like it detracts from the book when it's turned into a blockbuster.

And what about the Artemis Fowl books? I haven't read them and am curious if they're any good.Slimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13110752594165602950noreply@blogger.com
